Police are looking for an older-model, green minivan after the male driver allegedly tried to lure a 12-year-old boy into a vehicle Tuesday evening in Littlestown.
The boy was walking in a service drive, or alley, between Lexington Way and South Columbus Avenue early Tuesday evening when a man in camouflage pants and a white T-shirt pulled up beside him, Littlestown Police said.
The man asked the boy if he was lost and needed a ride home, but the boy declined, police said.
The van is described as forest green with Maryland tags and a broken taillight. The man is believed to be around 40 years old and was last seen making a right turn onto Mount Carmel Drive from Lexington Way, police said.
Chief Donald Baker said the area of the drive has open visibility and there are homes nearby.
"It's a well-paved alley with lots of people in backyards. That's what we don't understand," Baker said. "There are no fences and anyone could have seen them."
This is the second report of a man trying to lure a child into a vehicle in Littlestown in the past month.
In late July, a man in a red Chevrolet Cavalier allegedly stopped his vehicle in the area of 196 S. Columbus Ave. and told two girls, ages 8 and 9, to get in his car.
Baker said the two events are unrelated. The suspects and vehicles do not have matching descriptions, he said.
