HARRISBURG, Pa.—A south-central Pennsylvania day care center has been shut down after officials say a sleeping 11-month-old boy was left alone inside the locked building.

Police were called to Kidz Kingdom in Harrisburg after the boy's mother discovered the lights were out and the door was locked when she arrived to pick him up Nov. 24.

Department of Public Welfare spokeswoman Stacey Witalec says the owner arrived and eventually acknowledged he forgot the child after locking up.

Witalec says the boy wasn't hurt, but the center was shut down the next day.

No one answered the center's phone Tuesday morning. The owner, Mahlon Chase, has an unlisted home phone number.
