YORK TWP. -- Barry Myers, a representative from the York Township Department of Fire/Rescue Services, and Ted Hake, a representative from Yoe Ambulance, asked the York Township Board of Commissioners to look into a surcharge the township charges the fire department and EMS for diesel.

Under the current agreement, the township charges a fee of 10 percent of gas bought from them to cover upkeep and storage costs.

With skyrocketing fuel costs, Hake and Myers said it's getting too expensive and would like to see a flat rate charged.

What's next: Commissioner Ken Silberstein said he'd like to discuss a flat rate at a future meeting.
